The plays themselves are well written, as is all of Ketchum's work. The third play is basically a short story that he used at the beginning of his novel Lost. The first play is based on the confession of the Boston Strangler. The second play provides an excellent example of a couple who have been together too long and would rather talk at each other than to each other. Their dialogue isn't so much a conversation that it is two people talking to themselves and expecting the other person to be an attentive ear. It reminded me of some of David Mamet's early work. These were written when Ketchum was young, and you can feel his skillful dialogue that makes his novels so great waiting to break through.
